I'm sorry I haven't been posting on here.  I have only been using my tumblr.  I still haven't gotten used to blogspot.

My parents just got back from D.C. and they brought me this cute outfit! I love it!

Today’s Outfit

Happy Tuesday! Today’s been hectic but I productive. I am almost finished with my outfit for the Mad Men Masquerade! I am awful at costumes, so this has been challenging! But I am so so so excited and know we will all have a blast!
So I have been thinking about how I can include Affirmations with my daily outfit posts and have come up with a couple options.  My favorite so far is this: along with the pictures post an affirmation that is the opposite of how I feel.  Whenever I upload my pictures I immediately start picking apart what I like and what I don’t. Part of that can be constructive as it could be a color combo or something like that. But with every helpful thought there are about 10 unhelpful negatives. In this post I felt like my legs looked funny and it bothered me. So an example of this would be to post “I love my legs” along with these pictures. I think this would be good for me whether I post it or not. What do you guys think? What’s a good way to incorporate affirmations in this blog?

Affirmations

So…I want to give you guys my biggest and best kept “beauty secret” No, it’s not a certain kind of makeup, or special underwear (yeah, I went there), or anything physical.  It’s affirmations.  I do realize that implying I have a beauty secret implies that I see myself as beautiful. This makes me feel uncomfortable, but it’s kinda part of the process :)
OK so affirmations. What are they? How do they work? Does everyone feel this stupid when doing them? (Most likely) Why are they important? When should I do them?
Affirmations are exactly what they sound like. Affirming yourself. I have several I alternate and I do them several times a day.  I started with pretty elementary sentences such as, “I like my arms. They allow me to pick up things” Yeah! Pretty weird, but at that point in my life that was the best compliment I could think of for myself. And even then I didn’t really believe it.
If other people talked to me the way I used to talk to myself, I would consider it abuse. And I bet a lot of my followers are in the same boat.  Listening to negative stuff I told myself really brought me down.  If me talking myself down could have such a strong effect on me, why couldn’t me complimenting myself? So I had to start reprogramming my brain. Honestly, they have made the biggest difference in my life.  It’s amazing how something so small can literally turn your life around. If you base your worth on what others say about you, even if they are complimenting you, the compliments won’t stick. I believe that I have to define my worth.
I’ve found that the times when I feel like doing them the least are the exact times I need to be affirming myself the most. because those are the times when I am most vulnerable to what others say.  I’ll be honest, turning this tumblr into a fashion blog of sorts has had it’s downfalls.  It has been the coolest, most rewarding experience, but it also has its trials.  People feel that they have the right to comment on other people’s exterior.  If you can see it, you can critique it.  I admit I am also guilty of this. It’s just part of our culture.  But because of this blog, I have been getting a lot of comments on my outward appearance and my weight.  These are the times I need to be doing my affirmations more, because I define my worth. And I am worthy of happiness. :)
Here are some affirmations for those of you that are interested in trying:
I love my arms and legs. They allow me to pick up things and walk. (haha)
I am beautiful.
I deserve unconditional love.
I am a a fun person to be around.
My best is good enough.
I am funny.
I am worthy of happiness.
I am a good daughter (son, sister, brother, mother, father, friend)
I love my hair. I love my eyes. I love my complextion.
OK well.  I really hope this stuck with you guys. Really I can’t tell you how important these silly little sentences have become to me. Yes, it feels stupid and awkward to say them, but as time went on I actually started to believe them.

Today’s Outfit: Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!

My little Easter Bunny :) This is my puppy, Eppie. We always joke that she’s a bunny because when she runs she looks like one. Look at her floppy little ears! Love her!

Today’s Outfit

I’m sorry I am so late posting my outfit picture today! It has been a great lazy Saturday followed by a nice dinner out. At dinner, I just happened to overhear a conversation happening beside me and it was so funny and indicative of the south that I had to share!

There were two couples. Wife 1 talking to Couple 2: Did you hear the big news?!?!
Couple 2: No! What! Wife 1: My husband bought a TRACTOR!!
Yay tractors! I hope they drove it to the restaurant like all of the classiest southerners.

Today’s Outfit

I have had an adventure today trying to get my daily outfit pictures! Let me tell you about it…

While I was trying to find the perfect spot for today’s Spring outfit I spotted the worst thing.  That’s right. A LIZARD! I have a fear of lizards but I knew it was very important to get these pictures so I risked my very life for you guys.

THE ENEMY!! Look at him. All calm and collected.  YOU DON’T OWN ME!

So I stuck my tongue out at the lizard, and told him “You can’t stand in my way! I have a job to do!”

I turned the other cheek and took my outfit pictures…

and we all lived happily ever after!

The End. Thank you for enduring my impromptu children’s book.

Today’s Outfit

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m in kind of a strange mood. I should be thrilled to be starting my long weekend! Maybe it’s the weather. or maybe it’s the fact that I have about 10,000 things to do this weekend. :( Regardless, here is today’s outfit.
Thanks to Jason for taking my outfit pictures today :)

The dress is so much cuter than you can see. I meant to take some without the jacket but I forgot. I also forgot to do a close up! Where is my head?

It is pretty much a daily battle to not wear my blue jean jacket and this new mustache necklace. It’s just the perfect amount of whimsy. (Also, I think this dress would be great with my blue jean jacket)

Today’s Outfit: Carousel Dress

I really do not know how it has taken this long to show yall the Carousel Dress.  It is certainly one of my favorites if not my favorite item of clothing. It was also my first ever Click purchase! There is about 5 people that own this dress in Hattiesburg and I know all of them.  It feels like a super awesome Carousel Club :)

Not really sure what that last pose is about…haha maybe I am questioning why it has taken so long for this dress to appear in an outfit picture!

(I know Gap is a weird place to get tights. Yesterday I realized all my black tights were ripped so my brother and I went on a mission to buy new ones. THERE IS A NATIONAL SHORTAGE!!!! Ok, probably not a national shortage but we had to go to like 5 different places before we even found ANY, not that just to find ones I liked. Seriously? It was bizarre.)
